Stepping off a long flight with four weary teenagers, the stylish entrance of the Bloomsbury Hotel in London caught my eye. The front entrance was a beautiful sight, with stone carvings, ironwork, and ivy. The hotel’s design felt quite sophisticated, and I was a little worried we were underdressed in our travel clothes. However, the bellman quickly put me at ease. He grabbed our bags and welcomed us with such warmth that I realized style doesn’t mean snobbishness. This welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a delightful stay.
A Grand Dame with a Family Touch
The Bloomsbury is called the Grand Dame of London for a reason. It’s a beautiful hotel with chic design and elegant renovations. But can a hotel like this really be family-friendly? The answer is a resounding yes! As I opened the door to our room, I heard my daughter squeal with delight. A welcome basket filled with fresh fruit, treats, and a sweet teddy bear wearing a Bloomsbury sweater awaited her. It was a thoughtful touch that made us feel right at home. The hotel perfectly blends sophisticated style – think elegant furniture and marble bathrooms – with thoughtful details that make families with children feel truly welcome.
Location, Location, Location
The Bloomsbury is perfectly located in London. It’s just minutes away from restaurants and a short walk to Covent Garden or the British Museum. Train lines are nearby, making it easy to explore the city. The Eurostar station is also just a short ride away, making it a great option for families combining trips to Paris and London.
A Peaceful Oasis in the Bustling City
While the Bloomsbury sits in the midst of London’s bustling streets, its entrance is tucked away on a quiet side street, offering a more peaceful check-in experience. Shoppers beware: the chic boutiques in the area can put a serious dent in your budget!
Stylish Rooms for Families
The recent renovation of this 1930s building has brought the hotel up to date while retaining its historic charm. The rooms are lovely, with fresh, modern designs, luxurious bedding, colorful walls, and bathrooms with heated marble floors. Even the standard rooms, which are on the smaller side, felt spacious enough for our family.
Kids Will Love It!
The Bloomsbury goes above and beyond to make kids feel special. Fluffy bathrobes and deluxe toiletries for children are standard in 5-star hotels, but the Bloomsbury takes it to another level. Harry Potter fans might find a magical surprise in their room, while little ones can enjoy a “camp out” experience in a teepee setup if you book a studio suite. Children will also find their favorite magazines waiting for them upon arrival, plus a special turndown treat of milk and cookies.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Dalloway Terrace, surrounded by beautiful flowers that create a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. Children under 5 eat free before 7 pm with the purchase of an adult meal.
A Relaxing Nightcap for Parents
Parents will appreciate the Coral Room Bar. After a long day of touring, it was a treat to say goodnight to the kids and enjoy a handcrafted cocktail in this beautiful bar.
