A Treehouse in the City: My Festive Escape to London

Imagine this: You’re feeling a little down, the holidays are approaching, and you need a pick-me-up. What better way to get into the festive spirit than a trip to London to see the dazzling Christmas lights? That’s exactly what I did last December, and I decided to make the experience even more special by finding a unique hotel. Enter The Treehouse Hotel, a quirky and eco-conscious haven nestled in the heart of London.

A Treehouse in the Heart of London

This hotel, which opened its doors in November 2019, is situated north of the River Thames, putting you within easy reach of London’s main shopping district. You can easily stroll to Regent Street and Oxford Street, famous for their dazzling lights and endless shopping opportunities. But that’s not all; the Treehouse Hotel also offers convenient access to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Just a short walk away are the British Museum, the Sherlock Holmes Museum, Regent’s Park, and Hyde Park, making it the perfect base for exploring both famous and lesser-known spots.

While the hotel is ideal for exploring London’s hidden gems, it might not be the best choice for first-time visitors who are eager to see the city’s most famous sights. The journey to Buckingham Palace takes about 30 minutes on foot, and reaching the Tower of London can take over an hour. If you’re looking for a hotel closer to these landmarks, you might want to consider other options like Sea Containers, which I’ll be reviewing soon.

A Sustainable Sanctuary with Stunning Views

Let’s talk about the star of the show: the accommodation. I opted for a Treehouse Suite, and it was absolutely incredible. The panoramic views of London’s skyline were breathtaking, but the highlight was undoubtedly the massive soaking tub overlooking the city. It was pure bliss!

The room itself was just as special, designed with a strong emphasis on sustainability. The Treehouse Hotel proudly embraces eco-friendly practices, and you won’t find a single piece of plastic in the rooms. Each floor has a water fountain where you can fill your provided glass bottle with fresh water. The hotel’s design theme is inspired by Central American treehouses, and they utilize local products wherever possible. It’s clear that the Treehouse Hotel is committed to creating a sustainable and comfortable experience for its guests.

Dining and Fitness with a Twist

The Treehouse Hotel doesn’t just offer amazing rooms; it also boasts a variety of dining options to satisfy every craving. At the entrance, you’ll find Backyard, a cozy coffee shop and breakfast spot serving delicious teas, coffees, fruit, pastries, and other treats. There’s also a charming touch: guests are encouraged to swap their pre-loved books with those on display in Backyard, and you’ll even find a pre-loved book waiting for you in your room upon arrival!

For a more substantial meal, head to Madera, the hotel’s main restaurant serving authentic Mexican cuisine. Sundays are especially tempting with their mouthwatering brunch menu. If pizza is your preference, Pizzeria Mozza is your go-to spot. And for those seeking a sophisticated night out, The Nest, the hotel’s rooftop bar, offers a curated selection of cocktails and drinks. All of the food and drinks I sampled at the Treehouse were truly delightful.

The hotel also offers unique fitness options, partnering with FRAME, a renowned fitness company. Guests can enjoy personal training sessions in their rooms, on the Nest terrace, or even in nearby Regent’s Park. While I didn’t try this service myself, I thought it was a unique and refreshing addition to their offerings.

A Unique Stay with a Sustainable Touch

Overall, I found the Treehouse Hotel to be a unique and memorable experience. The hotel’s commitment to sustainability sets it apart from other hotels, and it was a refreshing change to see such a strong emphasis on eco-conscious practices. The Treehouse Hotel was the perfect escape for me, offering a peaceful haven amidst the hustle and bustle of London, and it definitely helped me end the year on a positive note. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! If you’re looking for a unique and sustainable stay in London, The Treehouse Hotel is definitely worth considering. Remember, happy travels and stay safe!
