A Night of Cozy Indulgence at Scarfe’s

Sometimes, you crave a night out that’s different, but no less exciting. It’s not about blaring music and frantic energy. We’re not talking about massive venues with crowds jostling for space, spilling drinks, and shouting “BEST NIGHT EVER!” We’re a little older now, looking for a different kind of experience. The best evenings are often spent in cozy surroundings, with delicious drinks and luxurious touches. For that, there’s no better place than Scarfe’s, a legendary
Central London
cocktail bar where “paintings and potions meet.”

What makes Scarfe’s so inviting? It’s the plush armchairs and sofas, practically begging you to sink in and lose yourself in the moment. The warm ambiance is enhanced by velvet and wood accents that contrast beautifully with the doodle-covered marble walls. And let’s not forget the books and the roaring fireplace. Over 1,000 antique books, hand-picked by a Portobello-based antique dealer, add a touch of timeless charm. This is more than just a bar; it’s a beautiful space filled with character.

But don’t think for a second that Scarfe’s is stuffy or pretentious. This bar embraces a playful, tongue-in-cheek spirit. The staff welcomes you with their knowledge, passion, and a healthy dose of fun. Music, illustrations, and literature weave their way into every detail, with humor and joy as the constant threads. Each night, complimentary live music adds to the convivial atmosphere, making it both lively and incredibly cozy.

Gerald Scarfe’s Artistic Wonderland

The true star of the show? Gerald Scarfe’s artwork, which adorns the marble surfaces, transforming the bar into a living canvas. Scarfe’s work spans the spectrum of popular culture, from fictional characters like Walt Disney’s Hercules to real-life icons like Elton John and David Attenborough. His cartoons have graced the pages of The Sunday Times and The New Yorker, and even if you’re not familiar with his work, you’re sure to recognize his unique style the moment you step inside.

Gerald Scarfe himself describes the bar as “my personal art gallery, where you can see my life on the walls.”

A Menu Inspired by Art and Pop Culture

The menu at Scarfe’s takes the artwork off the walls and brings it to your table. Cocktail names are inspired by current events and pop culture figures. Celebrating their 10th anniversary, the menu showcases ten of their most beloved cocktails from past years alongside ten brand-new creations. You’ll find innovative concoctions like the Rum ‘N’ Roll, a rum-and-coke riff with La Hechicera Rum, Noilly Prat, Smoked Cola, and Tonka. Another crowd favorite, the Zingy Stardust, pays homage to Bowie with Bombay Premier Cru, Muscat, Kaffir Lime, and Neroli. There’s something for everyone.

And you know you’re in good hands because their Arturo Burzio was recently crowned the ‘elit Vodka Martini Master 2022’. I’ll start with a vodka martini, thank you!

A World-Class Destination

Scarfe’s has earned accolades like ‘Best International Hotel Bar’ from the Spirited Awards, Tales of the Cocktail 2020. They consistently rank among the top bars in the country and around the world. They know what they’re doing, no doubt.

More Than Just Cocktails

The cocktail selection is further complemented by an extensive list of spirits, wines, liqueurs, non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails, beers, and more. Oh, and cigars and gifts, of course!

You’ll also find a tempting selection of bar snacks and tasty treats to accompany your drinks. Choose from Tuna Tacos, Crispy Potato and Truffle Mille-Feuille with Roast Striploin, Warm Toasted Crumpets with Devonshire Crab, and many more.

So, head on down to Scarfe’s, sink into a plush armchair, soak in the atmosphere (and a cocktail or two), and get ‘scarfed’!
