A Quintessential British Escape
The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone is an eclectic embodiment of British charm. Described by Condé Nast Traveller as a haven for “fun-loving
London
devotees”, the townhouse’s unique entrance on Seymour Street instantly sets the stage for a memorable experience. The tiled walkway, wrought iron railings, and overhanging glass lantern create an Instagram-worthy sight. Seasonal and celebratory decorations, ranging from vibrant floral displays to theatrical arrangements, further enhance the townhouse’s charm.
Seymour’s Parlour: A Lively Cocktail Bar
Upon entering the townhouse, you’ll be greeted by Seymour’s Parlour, a buzzing cocktail bar that hosts regular themed events in collaboration with exciting liquor and mixology brands from around the world. During our visit, the Rome-based bar, Drink Kong, delighted us with their exceptional drinks and mouthwatering small plates, transporting us to the heart of Italy from the comfort of the townhouse.
A Design Masterpiece with a Touch of History
The townhouse’s edgy and captivating design, created by Russell Sage, the interior design studio behind iconic British landmarks like
The Savoy
and The Goring, as well as the entertaining Flight Club darts bars, is a true testament to creativity. The original stone staircase, a rare and remarkable feature for a London home, adds a touch of history and grandeur to the interior. The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone evokes a “museum feel,” according to London X London, especially in Seymour’s Parlour, where casts in the style of English architect Sir John Soane and framed sepia photos ignite curiosity and excitement.
A Home Away from Home
Breaking away from the traditional hotel experience, The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone offers a private and homely feel, providing guests with a sense of independence. The townhouse’s 24 rooms are each adorned with intricately curated pieces, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication.
For those seeking an ultimate indulgence, the rooftop Lear’s Loft suite offers a captivating experience with its alfresco bathtub. More budget-friendly options include the charming deluxe doubles. We stayed in a stylish junior suite on the first floor, described on the website as “oozing grandeur and elegance.” With two stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, a king-sized bed, and an antique-furnished seating area, the suite truly lived up to its description.
Luxurious Comfort Meets Modern Technology
Nestled in the king-sized bed, surrounded by draped curtains and a beautiful fireplace, you’ll feel like royalty lounging in
Buckingham Palace
. The suite’s regal and refined atmosphere is further enhanced by a wonderful collection of vintage treasures, such as a gramophone, alongside high-tech amenities like an under-bed TV, a Roberts radio connected to surround-sound speakers, air-conditioning, and a stylish Dualit kettle. It’s no surprise that The Zetter Group won a “best in tech” prize at The Hotel Cateys 2022.
Exceptional Amenities and Thoughtful Details
While the bathroom might feel a little compact compared to the suite, it still offers all the necessities, including a large sink, a bathtub, a rainforest shower, fluffy bathrobes, and floral-scented lotions and potions. The meticulous attention to detail, evident in every corner of the townhouse, adds an extra touch of luxury to your stay.
