Our experience at the Thistle Hotel was truly delightful! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The room was immaculately clean and well-appointed, with a fantastic kitchenette that made our long stay incredibly convenient. We loved the variety and quality of the breakfast buffet, and the hotel’s additional amenities, such as the laundrette and gym, were fantastic perks. We highly recommend this hotel for its welcoming atmosphere and excellent service.
It’s important to note the personal touch that the staff at Thistle adds to our experience. We were especially impressed by the friendly faces of Zahir, Thomas, and Kamilla in the coffee bar. They always greeted us with smiles and made our mornings even brighter. Their dedication and personality are a testament to the high standards of this hotel, which, despite being relatively new, has quickly become a favorite of ours.
Every hotel has its pros and cons, and Thistle is no exception. While we were impressed with the helpfulness and professionalism of most staff members, we unfortunately encountered an unpleasant situation during our stay. Early one morning, we were rudely awakened by a staff member who was attempting to wake up guests in the adjacent room. The loud banging on the door continued for an extended period, despite our protests. We reported this incident to reception, and while they acknowledged it was unusual, management dismissed our complaint. We believe that all travelers, especially those on long-haul flights, value their sleep, and we were disappointed that the hotel’s policy seemed to disregard this basic need.
However, despite this negative experience, we still enjoyed our stay at Thistle. The breakfast was outstanding, offering a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, as well as excellent coffee. The sports lounge also provides a comfortable waiting area for travelers before heading to the airport.
The customer service at Thistle was truly exceptional. Every member of staff was attentive and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The room was spacious and well-equipped, exceeding our expectations. Despite its close proximity to the airport, the hotel is remarkably quiet, with no noise pollution from aircraft. The breakfast was both delicious and varied, adding to our positive experience.
Thistle Hotel offers a charming and convenient stay for travelers, particularly those flying out of Heathrow T5. Its unique character and convenient location make it an excellent value. While it might be slightly dated, we appreciate this as part of its charm. The hotel’s fantastic location is perfect for plane spotters, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as the shortbread biscuits provided in the room. We especially want to thank Parik, Mechell, and the lovely cleaner who always takes pride in the hotel’s appearance. We look forward to returning to Thistle on our future trips.
While the Ibis hotel further down the road offered a larger room and more affordable alcohol, we found its staff to be less engaging. Our check-in experience was frustrating, with the staff seemingly more interested in socializing with colleagues than helping us. We were also disappointed to find that the advertised “pint and pizza” deal was no longer available. However, the check-out staff were delightful, leaving a positive final impression.
Thistle Hotel offers an excellent option for travelers arriving or departing from Heathrow Airport Terminal 2. Its location just two kilometers from the terminal is incredibly convenient, with direct bus access. However, even with its convenient location, we recommend considering other transportation options if the bus service is not reliable.
