My flight was cancelled, and we were unceremoniously asked to leave the departure area. There were no Logan Air ground crew members available, so we relied on the airport’s customer service desk for guidance. They assured us we would be eligible for compensation. However, nearly two months later, I was informed that the flight was merely delayed, not cancelled. This means we won’t receive compensation for the exorbitant additional cost I incurred by booking a different airline to reach Aberdeen. The customer service was terrible, and the unreliable flights made this a truly awful experience.
Unacceptable In-Flight Experience
The food was dreadful, and drinks were scarce, as if the airline was worried about passengers overindulging. The attendants were unhelpful and lacked the typical Dutch efficiency I’ve come to expect. The flight was cramped, and the entertainment options were extremely limited. Mostly outdated movies and series with just a few episodes. It felt like I was stuck in a time warp. For a 13-hour flight, you’d expect more options, but it seems like you need to bring your own entertainment these days! I’ll avoid this airline in the future.
A Nightmarish Journey to JFK
Our flight to Newark never took off. We rushed to a closed gate with no staff available, then a closed customer service center. After a 20-minute walk, we finally found another customer service center and secured a ticket. A two-hour wait later, we were finally on a flight to JFK. The delays meant we had to sprint to catch our train home. And to top it all off, our luggage arrived three days later, at 3:45 AM! This was an incredibly stressful and frustrating experience that took days to recover from. The airline’s customer service is truly an embarrassment.
Lost Luggage and Incompetence
I paid for a carry-on bag, but they refused to allow it on board, claiming the flight was full. Reluctantly, I checked it in, trying to be helpful. However, they made a mistake with the tag numbers, and my bag went missing. It contained valuable items, and my entire vacation was ruined. I even questioned the boarding assistant about the incorrect tag number, but they assured me it was fine and my bag would arrive. Of course, it never did. The boarding assistant’s incompetence led to the loss of all my belongings.
Missed Connection and Missing Luggage
Our flight arrived late. When we inquired about whether we could make our connecting flight, one unhelpful crew member simply told us to listen to the announcements. We barely made it to our connection, having to race across the terminals. To make matters worse, our checked bag didn’t make the connection. After reporting the issue, we received no updates on its status. Despite providing my phone number, they claimed they didn’t have it. I’m still waiting for my bag.
Overbooked Flight and Unacceptable Rebooking
While traveling with Visa for 25 years, this was the first time we experienced a major travel nightmare. In Miami, we discovered that my children’s connecting flight from Zurich to Budapest was overbooked and cancelled by Swissair. They rebooked us at the Miami airport, but the new route was unnecessarily complicated: Miami to Zurich, Zurich to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Budapest. We had a six-hour layover in Zurich and arrived in Budapest nine hours late. It’s unacceptable that a ticket purchased seven months in advance was sold to someone else. Instead of removing those two passengers, we were forced to endure this agonizing journey. I will be contacting customer support shortly to demand a refund.
