A Flight From Hell: My Delta Nightmare

It all started with a simple request. I needed a wheelchair to get from the plane to baggage claim in Boston. However, the wheelchair attendant demanded payment from me, despite my belief that it was a free service. I refused, feeling unfairly pressured, and he then demanded payment from my daughter who, unaware of the situation, paid him. The whole experience felt like a scam, and it put a sour taste in my mouth before I even stepped off the plane.

A First Class Flight, First Class Disaster

We decided to splurge and fly first class on our next Delta flight, hoping for a more enjoyable experience. The seats were indeed spacious and comfortable, but the flight crew arrived late, causing a major delay. Many passengers missed their connecting flights, leaving me feeling sympathy for their inconvenience. To top it off, one of our four checked bags went missing. Delta’s online help was useless, and though the baggage claim staff were kind, we waited two hours before the lost bag was finally found. We had to drive back to the airport to retrieve it, making what should have been a simple trip a stressful ordeal. We definitely won’t be splurging on first class anytime soon, and I’m seriously reconsidering my loyalty to Delta.

A Nightmare Continued: Cramped, Unhelpful, and Miserable

Things didn’t get better on my next flight. The food was terrible, drinks were scarce, and the attendants were unhelpful. The flight was cramped, and the entertainment options were limited and outdated. It felt like the airline was actively trying to make the flight as unpleasant as possible. I’m not sure if it was a cultural thing, but the attendants seemed unbothered by our complaints.

We even had to bring our own entertainment! It’s hard to believe that in this day and age, airlines are still offering such limited entertainment options, especially on a long flight. I’ll definitely be avoiding Delta in the future.

A Missed Flight and a Lost Bag

My next Delta experience was even more frustrating. Our flight to Newark left without us because of a delay. We ran to a closed gate, then to a closed customer service center, and finally to another customer service center, only to be told we’d have to wait two hours for a new flight. We ended up flying to JFK instead, which caused us to run to catch our train home. To top it all off, our luggage arrived three days later at 3:45 in the morning! It took me days to recover from the stress and disappointment of this travel experience. Delta’s customer service is truly an embarrassment.

My Bag, My Vacation, and Delta’s Incompetence

My last Delta flight was a disaster from the start. I paid for a carry-on bag, but was persuaded to check it in because the flight was full. They mixed up the tag numbers, and my bag was lost as a result. My vacation was ruined because I had valuable items in the bag. I even asked the boarding assistant about the incorrect tag number, but they assured me it was fine. Of course, my bag never arrived. The incompetence of the boarding assistants cost me everything I had in my bag.

A Final Blow: Missed Connection and Lost Bag

My final Delta flight was delayed upon arrival. When I asked for information about whether I could make my connecting flight, the crew member was unhelpful, telling me to just listen to the announcements. We nearly missed our connection because we had to run across the terminals. To make matters worse, our checked bag did not make the transition. Despite reporting the issue and providing my phone number, I received no updates about the status of my bag. When I called, they said they didn’t have my number. It’s clear that Delta doesn’t care about their customers.

I’m done with Delta. Their service is unreliable, their employees are unhelpful, and their customer service is nonexistent. I’ll be sticking to other airlines from now on.
