A Refreshing Stay at the Hilton Heathrow T4

Welcome to my review of the Hilton Heathrow T4! I have a special connection with this hotel, having been a member of its gym years ago. While I wasn’t indulging in luxurious travel back then, I remember enjoying a gin and tonic with a friend in the hotel’s sophisticated bar – a far cry from my local pub!

A Modernized Hotel Experience

Since my early visits, the hotel has undergone a complete makeover. Both the rooms and public spaces have been updated with a modern, contemporary feel. I recently had the pleasure of staying at the upgraded property and am excited to share my experience.

Navigating to the Hilton Heathrow T4

One potential drawback, even before the pandemic, was the limited transport options to Terminal 4. The Heathrow Express doesn’t offer a direct connection, so you’ll need to factor in some extra travel time. However, the Hilton is a much better option than the other on-site hotels, particularly the Sofitel, which has been designated as a quarantine hotel. The Aerotel at T3 and the Heathrow Garden Inn at T2 are the only other options, but a long walk with luggage to the Heathrow Express is required from T2. Ultimately, getting to T4 is often quicker and offers a more pleasant experience.

Other transport options include an Uber (which can be costly due to Heathrow charges) or the Hoppa bus, which is free for hotel guests and runs hourly from T5. Alternatively, buses 482 or 490 will take you to T4, where the Hilton is directly connected by a walkway.

For those traveling from London, the bus also stops at Hatton Cross tube station, just a 10-minute bus ride from the hotel.

A Convenient and Welcoming Stay

I personally chose to drive to the hotel and then parked my car with FHR, a company that represents various meet-and-greet services. Using MBW or Star Parking, I was able to park my car in short-term parking, making it easy to retrieve on my departure.

Value for Money and a Quiet Retreat

The Hilton Heathrow T4 is a fantastic value for money, offering a comfortable and modern experience at a reasonable price. You can typically find rooms starting at £90, with even a Junior Suite like the one I had going for around £150 on quieter days. For Diamond members, the hotel offers even better value with lounge replacement benefits.

I found the hotel to be incredibly quiet, which was a welcome change after a long day of travel. Upon arrival, I was able to leave my car by reception while checking in. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive, even assisting with my luggage.

A Modern Oasis

One of the most appealing aspects of the hotel is the expansive atrium where the reception and restaurants are located. After being cooped up in an airport or plane, it’s refreshing to enter such an open and airy space. The new decor is contemporary and sophisticated, adding to the overall luxurious feel.

The centerpiece of the hotel is the spacious central food and beverage area, which includes a bar/cafe and a more formal restaurant. This provides guests with a variety of dining options to suit every taste.

A Spacious and Comfortable Room

I was delighted to be upgraded to a Junior Suite, but have also enjoyed the standard rooms in previous visits. The rooms are modern and stylish, with an aviation-themed touch that I appreciate as a geek. The illuminated maps on the wall create a real airport feel, which I find charming.

The Junior Suite was incredibly spacious, offering ample space for working or relaxing during a longer layover. The desk area was comfortable, and I was pleased to find plenty of power sockets at desk level for charging devices.

The room was well-equipped, featuring plenty of storage space in the wardrobe, an iron, and a morning board, robe, and slippers. I also appreciated the generous supply of mineral water in glass bottles, as well as individually wrapped wipes for added peace of mind.

The bathroom was modern and featured a large walk-in shower with both a raindrop showerhead and a more traditional option. The vanity unit was spacious, allowing me to easily dump my wash bag without having to unpack everything.

A Satisfying Culinary Experience

I dined at the hotel’s OXBO cafe/bar, which is very smart and features a stylish and calming aesthetic with plenty of greenery. There are a variety of seating areas to suit every preference, whether you just want a quick drink or a more formal meal.

I enjoyed delicious cauliflower fritters, with perfectly crispy batter and a hint of spice. The accompanying tomato chutney added a touch of sweetness that balanced the dish perfectly.

The hotel’s signature burger is a must-try. I opted for the brown ale rarebit topping, and it was truly decadent. The oozing hot cheese and the smoked tomato chutney perfectly complemented the flavorful beef patties.

A Thoughtful Lounge Alternative

While the lounge is currently closed, the hotel offers a generous alternative. Guests can enjoy a selection of drinks and snacks, including the delicious cauliflower fritters, between 6-8 pm.

A Relaxing and Revitalizing Stay

The hotel offers a bespoke Family Experience for travelers with children under 12, featuring a Kids Welcome, a dedicated Kids Breakfast experience, a Kids Menu, and kids’ amenities available upon request.

Although the pool has been replaced with more meeting space, the gym and changing rooms have been refreshed, and a business center is available for printing travel documents.

Overall, my stay at the Hilton Heathrow T4 was incredibly enjoyable. The hotel has been tastefully renovated, offering a modern and comfortable experience with a fantastic range of amenities. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient and relaxing airport stay.
