Living in London, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but this staycation allowed us to rediscover the beauty of our city and enjoy a change of pace. The concept of a staycation is becoming increasingly popular, especially in a city as vast and dynamic as London. There’s always something new to explore, from hidden restaurants and captivating galleries to exciting live music events. Sometimes, all you need is a night or two in a hotel to truly appreciate the city you call home.
A Fresh Perspective on London
We took this opportunity to escape our usual routine and immerse ourselves in a new neighborhood. It was like experiencing London through the eyes of a tourist once again. Seeing the city from a different vantage point, we were able to appreciate the beauty of its iconic landmarks and charming streets. We strolled at a leisurely pace, taking in the sights and sounds of the city.
A Tech-Savvy Retreat
The citizenM hotel immediately impressed us with its modern and tech-savvy amenities. Each room features a personalized iPad that controls everything from the lighting and heating to the blinds and TV. This innovative touch allowed us to personalize our stay, creating a truly unique and comfortable atmosphere. The iPad also provides access to hotel information, restaurant menus, and local area guides. We couldn’t resist playing with all the cool gadgets!
A Library-Inspired Haven
The hotel lobby is a stunning space, with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves that create a library-like ambiance. This unique design element adds a touch of sophistication and charm to the hotel. We loved browsing through the diverse collection of books, magazines, and memorabilia. The same library-inspired concept extends to the bar on the 7th floor, offering a breathtaking view of the Tower of London.
A Relaxing Escape
The lobby also features a comfortable chill-out zone, a cozy coffee shop, and a row of Apple Mac computers for guests to use. The reception area is designed for both convenience and relaxation. The check-in process is effortless, thanks to touch-screen monitors that allow guests to choose their rooms upon arrival.
Cocktails with a View
The hotel bar, perched on the 7th floor, offers stunning 180-degree views of the Tower of London. Even on a foggy day, we were able to step out onto the terrace and capture a glimpse of the iconic landmark. The bar boasts a wide selection of cocktails, spirits, wines, and beers. We savored a refreshing watermelon gin concoction, enjoying the excellent waiter service and the cozy atmosphere.
Waking Up to the City
We used the iPad to set a timer that would gently awaken us with a soft, warm glow. This unique and personalized wake-up experience was a delightful touch. We couldn’t help but wish we could install a similar system in our own bedroom!
A Delicious Start to the Day
The breakfast buffet at citizenM is a feast for the senses. From continental to cooked options, there’s something for everyone. Fresh juices, flavored water, pastries, and spreads are all included. The earl grey marmalade is simply divine! Guests can also order a fresh coffee of their choice at the bar. We were so captivated by the delicious spread that we completely forgot to take pictures!
