A London Staycation at Flemings Hotel: A Review

Welcome to London! After a whirlwind trip through Asia, I was eager to return to the familiar streets of London. However, the gloomy winter weather dampened my spirits upon arrival. To cheer myself up, I decided to indulge in a one-night staycation at the charming Flemings Hotel in Mayfair. This boutique hotel, tucked away on Half Moon Street, is a haven of elegance and comfort.

A Boutique Gem in Mayfair

Flemings Hotel is a collection of 13 adjoining Georgian townhouses just off Piccadilly. The hotel’s 129 guest rooms and suites offer a range of options to suit every traveler, from cozy rooms to spacious apartments. My room featured a king-size bed, a desk, a love seat, and a mirrored wardrobe, all adorned in soothing shades of gray and purple. The spacious bathroom boasted a stand-alone bathtub, a separate shower, and luxurious Gilchrist & Soames toiletries. The entire room was warm and inviting, and I couldn’t resist sinking into the plush sofa upon arrival.

As an extra treat, I was greeted with two Primrose Bakery cupcakes. It was the perfect way to end my travels and satisfy my sweet tooth!

Exploring Mayfair’s Charm

My staycation wouldn’t be complete without exploring the vibrant neighborhood of Mayfair. My friend and I ventured out to find a restaurant for dinner, but our first choice was fully booked. Not to be deterred, we made our way to Shepherd Market, a charming Georgian-era area with cobblestone streets and a delightful mix of pubs, shops, and restaurants.

We ended up at Le Boudin Blanc, a French restaurant in Shepherd Market. Despite my jet lag, the delicious coq au vin and a bottle of Burgundy soon had me feeling right at home. After dinner, we strolled down Piccadilly, taking in the sights of Green Park, The Ritz, and the historical architecture of St. James’s Street.

Flemings Hotel: Beyond the Room

The next morning, I awoke to the sound of footsteps outside my door. I lingered in my comfortable room before heading downstairs for breakfast. The restaurant’s dark autumn color scheme and black leather banquettes created a cozy atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was simple but satisfying, featuring yogurt, croissants, and tea.

After breakfast, I was fortunate to be given a tour of the hotel. I was delighted to see the variety of rooms, each with its own unique style. From traditional decor with tartan accents to ultra-contemporary design with stark white interiors, there was something for everyone. The hotel also offers a range of amenities, including a large conference room, The Drawing Room, and Manetta’s Bar.
