A Room with a View of History

Each of The Chesterfield’s 94 rooms and 16 suites embodies the hotel’s unique style, a blend of classic elegance and modern comfort. My room was a testament to this exquisite fusion. Bold and distinctive, it showcased classic features such as fabric-covered walls, heavy patterned curtains, and a decorative carpet, all harmoniously woven into a tapestry of rich textures and patterns. The ornate furniture, adorned with gold accents, and gold-edged mirrors added a touch of regal grandeur.

The Chesterfield Mayfair Terrace Bar

The Chesterfield’s commitment to creating a welcoming environment is evident in every detail. Two plush armchairs beckon you to relax, while a spacious bathroom and separate shower room cater to your every need. A large antique wood writing desk invites you to indulge in a moment of reflection or to pen a heartfelt letter. And for those who appreciate the comforts of modern life, a large flat-screen television, 24-hour room service, and complimentary Wi-Fi are readily available.

A Culinary Journey for the Senses

Mayfair is renowned as London’s epicenter of fine dining, and The Chesterfield rises to the occasion with a culinary experience that tantalizes the taste buds. Executive Chef Nathan Hindmarsh and his team showcase their artistry by crafting creative dishes using seasonal, organic British ingredients. Butlers Restaurant, famed for its expertly filleted Dover sole, is the hotel’s flagship restaurant, while The Terrace Bar and The Conservatory offer more casual settings for enjoying a drink and a light bite.

A Feast for the Senses

During my December stay, I savored a delightful dinner in The Conservatory, a light-filled space bursting with greenery. On a typical evening, I would recommend starting your culinary journey with a pre-dinner drink at the bar, followed by a delectable meal in the chandelier-lit restaurant.

My dinner was a symphony of flavors, each course meticulously crafted to delight the palate. The Orkney scallops with Cox’s apple, celeriac, hazelnuts, and tarragon were a revelation, the scallops perfectly cooked and complemented by the refreshing and crunchy elements. The wellington of Yorkshire venison, served with roast butternut squash, celeriac remoulade, and blackberry sauce, was a masterpiece of culinary artistry, showcasing the finest quality meat and culinary expertise.

Even though I’m known for my love of cheeseboards, the sticky toffee pudding proved irresistible. Served with butterscotch sauce, vanilla ice cream, and sticky dates, it was a decadent treat, satisfying my craving for sweet indulgence.
