Let’s talk about London, and more specifically, the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City. I recently spent a few days at this charming hotel, and I’m excited to share my experience with you.
The hotel’s location is a major plus. It’s a short walk from the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and the Shard, offering incredible views.
Arrival & Check-In
Upon arrival, a little before the usual check-in time, I was warmly welcomed by the hotel staff. The spacious and elegant lobby with comfortable seating areas immediately impressed me. The check-in process was quick and efficient, with the staff providing all the information I needed.
My Suite: A Home Away From Home
My suite on the 12th floor was a delight. The entrance led to a small kitchenette, which was a great convenience. The living room featured floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views of iconic London landmarks. It was tastefully furnished with two sofas, a coffee table, a TV, London-inspired artwork, and a magnificent chandelier.
The bedroom boasted a king-size bed, providing ample space for a comfortable sleep. It was well-equipped with wardrobes, a minibar, a safe, and plenty of power outlets with USB charging ports, perfect for the modern traveler.
Luxury Amenities & Thoughtful Touches
The suite was loaded with amenities: a flat-screen TV, writing desk, iron, ironing board, complimentary toiletries, a choice of a bathtub or shower, hairdryer, bathrobe, slippers, and a generous 10% discount on lunch and dinner. Little extras like free newspapers, unlimited Wifi, complimentary mineral water, a coffee & tea maker, and a telephone made the stay even more convenient.
A truly special touch was the handwritten welcome note and a sweet treat. It was a lovely gesture that made me feel truly welcome.
A Few Areas for Improvement
While the suite was excellent, the bathroom had some noticeable signs of wear and tear which detracted from its luxurious feel.
A Delightful Dining Experience
Breakfast at Leo’s, the hotel’s restaurant, offered a diverse buffet. From traditional English breakfast items to continental choices like pancakes, omelets, fresh fruits, and an assortment of bread, there was something for everyone. However, I encountered a staff member who seemed uninterested, which marred the experience somewhat. This was later compensated by the attentive service of other colleagues.
Dinner at Leo’s was a highlight. Kostas, the friendly staff member, found me a fantastic table and kept the conversation flowing in both English and German. The fish and chips were delicious, and the service was exceptional. Kostas made the evening truly memorable.
A Memorable Departure
When I checked out, I received a lovely parting gift – a bottle of red wine. This gesture was a heartwarming end to my stay, leaving a lasting positive impression despite some minor issues.
Final Thoughts
The Leonardo Royal Hotel London City offered a memorable stay with its stunning views, well-appointed suites, and mostly commendable service. Although there are some areas that could be improved, like the bathroom maintenance and staff engagement, the overall experience was positive. The personal touches, like the handwritten note and parting gift, made my stay truly special.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London.
