Tired of the daily grind and the hefty commute? A stay at a London hotel might just be the answer. I recently discovered a hidden gem, Hub by Premier Inn, and it’s not your average budget hotel.
A Budget-Friendly Paradise
This little-known offshoot of the renowned Premier Inn chain was recently crowned the UK’s best hotel chain. Rooms in London start at a mind-blowing £42 per night! Intrigued, I decided to spend a night at the West Brompton branch, just a short 12-minute journey from my office.
Let’s face it, commuting from Buckinghamshire can be a nightmare. It takes me a whopping 1 hour and 35 minutes, costing a whopping £43 per day. So, the prospect of a luxurious, affordable stay in London was too good to pass up.
Beyond Expectations: A Room That Delivers
Upon entering my room, I was pleasantly surprised. It was spotlessly clean, inviting, and surprisingly spacious for a budget hotel. The clever layout maximizes space, with hidden storage compartments and a full-length mirror cleverly disguised as a wardrobe.
The bed was a comfortable double with a luxuriously soft duvet, crisp white bedding, and fluffy towels – a far cry from what you’d expect at a budget hotel. Even the bathroom was well-equipped with shower gel, shampoo, and plenty of hot water.
A Cozy Haven in the City
Though the interior design is inspired by Japanese capsule hotels, my “hub” for the evening felt like a real room, not a tiny pod. It was about half the size of a standard Premier Inn room, which, to be honest, I find unnecessarily large. Who really needs a desk, double bed, bedside cabinets, and a sofa when you’re at a hotel?
There’s no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but complimentary hot drinks are available downstairs in the reception area. To be honest, a brew from a coffee machine is a welcome upgrade to the instant coffee sachets and powdered milk that are usually found in budget hotels.
A Relaxing Escape for the Weary
As a pregnant woman, I was exhausted and desperately needed some rest. A night at the Hub was just what the doctor ordered. I indulged in a delicious Deliveroo takeaway and binge-watched my favorite shows until I drifted off to sleep.
I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to face the day. Knowing that I was only two stops on the District line from my desk was a welcome bonus.
A Game-Changer for Hybrid Workers
This budget-friendly hotel is a game-changer for hybrid workers like me. I can enjoy the convenience of the city during the week and escape to the countryside on weekends.
I truly can’t believe that I had a luxurious night in London for less than the cost of my usual train fare. It’s a bargain that’s hard to resist.
The only downside is that finding a room for less than £100 can be a challenge. You’ll need to be flexible with your dates and book well in advance, especially during peak season. But, if you’re willing to be a bit flexible, you can snag a bargain and enjoy a luxurious staycation in London.
A Hidden Gem Worth Discovering
If you’re looking for a comfortable, affordable stay in London, Hub by Premier Inn is definitely worth considering. It’s a hidden gem that offers incredible value for money and a truly relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
