London in Bloom: A Family Getaway at the Hilton London Metropole

A warm summer breeze, clear skies, and the vibrant buzz of London – what more could you ask for? Early summer in London is truly magical. Before the city is overrun with tourists, it’s the perfect time to explore its charm. The Hilton London Metropole offered us the ideal family escape, where every moment felt like a cherished memory.

A Hotel for Everyone: Family Fun at the Hilton London Metropole

The Hilton London Metropole sits on the lively Edgware Road, near Paddington. This area is a feast for the senses, bustling with diverse restaurants and a colourful atmosphere. The hotel itself is a massive space, with over a thousand rooms spread across different wings, alongside restaurants, shops, and leisure facilities.

It’s a hotel that truly has something for everyone. For families, especially, it’s a haven of activities. We stayed in one of their spacious family rooms, perfect for our group of five. The main bedroom had two queen-sized beds, while a sofa and desk at the end transformed into another comfortable bed. This room provided ample space and was incredibly affordable for a family trip to London.

The bathroom, with its generous size and lovely amenities, added another touch of luxury. While I appreciated the toiletries provided, I would love to see Hilton switch to non-disposable options, making it even more environmentally friendly.

Dining Delights: From Breakfast Buffets to Pizza Making

Each morning, we indulged in the hotel’s delectable buffet breakfast. The spread was impressive, with vegetarian sausages, hot pancakes, an egg station, and an array of pastries. The kids adored the dedicated “kids’ corner,” complete with hot chocolate and doughnuts. While I missed having fresh fruit juices, I was pleasantly surprised by the abundance of fresh fruit and diverse food choices. We left breakfast feeling full and happy.

For dinner, we enjoyed the delicious Italian cuisine at Fiamma. The highlight for the kids was undoubtedly the pizza-making session. They had a blast creating their own pizzas in the hotel’s authentic pizza oven. I opted for a satisfying rigatoni with onions, asparagus, and blue cheese, while Mr. G savored a grilled sea bass with chillies and a coriander and clam risotto.

Exploring London: Location, Parking, and Kid-Friendly Amenities

The hotel’s location is fantastic. We appreciated its proximity to Oxford Street, just a short ten-minute walk away. Though we didn’t venture out this time, knowing we were so close to this famous shopping destination was reassuring. The area itself had a central feel and an atmosphere we enjoyed.

Parking at the hotel is quite expensive, so we decided to try our luck finding parking nearby, which was also pricey. We were lucky enough to find some on-street parking that stopped charging at 6:30 pm on a Friday, but most spots continued charging until 6:30 pm on Saturdays. If you plan to drive, factoring in parking costs is crucial.

The Hilton London Metropole is a true haven for kids. From the exciting pizza-making class to the delicious breakfast treats, there’s plenty to keep them entertained. But their absolute favourite part was the indoor pool. The children loved having a pre-bedtime swim, which was a fantastic way to burn off energy and relax before bed.

A Memorable Family Stay: A London Oasis

Our stay at the Hilton London Metropole was truly memorable. It’s an excellent hotel for families, particularly with their family rooms, which comfortably accommodate five people. We were impressed by the value for money and the range of amenities it offers. We wouldn’t hesitate to return for another London adventure.
