Get ready for a delightful escape to London! This review is all about my experience at The Grosvenor London, a 4-star hotel right in the heart of the city. If you’re looking for a comfy place to crash with easy access to everything London has to offer, keep reading!
A Prime Location for Every Traveler
The Grosvenor is a fantastic choice for any traveler, especially if you value easy transport links. It’s directly connected to Victoria Station, making it a breeze to hop on the Gatwick Express for a quick trip to the airport. The station also houses the Victoria, District, and Circle lines of the London Underground, giving you access to the entire city.
If you enjoy exploring on foot, the hotel is within walking distance of iconic landmarks like the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Imagine strolling through the bustling streets, soaking up the energy of the city! The Grosvenor is in the heart of the action, making it perfect for those who want to be close to all the excitement.
A Step Back in Time: The Grosvenor’s Charm
This 19th-century building has unmistakable curb appeal. Stepping inside, you’re greeted by the grandeur of the main entrance hall, complete with a breathtaking chandelier. Every corner of the hotel is a feast for the eyes, with high ceilings, elegant pillars, intricate carvings, stained glass windows, and wide staircases. It’s like stepping into a beautiful, timeless world. The Grosvenor is truly a place that captures your attention, making you want to linger and soak up the atmosphere.
My Room: A Comfortable Haven
My single room was located on one of the higher floors, offering spectacular views of Victoria Bus Station. Seriously, I could have spent hours just gazing out the window! While functional, the room was comfortable, equipped with a desk, a safe, a comfortable Hypnos bed, and even a kettle and cups. The bathroom fittings might be a tad outdated, but everything worked perfectly. And let’s not forget the free water bottles – a lovely touch!
The only drawback was the TV reception. It was so bad that the channels were barely watchable. However, I had my iPad to keep me entertained. The free Wi-Fi also came in handy. Overall, it was a cozy space for a relaxing night’s sleep.
A Delightful Afternoon Tea Experience
The Grosvenor’s afternoon tea is a delightful treat. It’s served in the hotel’s lounge, a beautiful space just like the entrance hall, with high ceilings, pillars, and chandeliers. The lounge is a perfect setting to savor delicious scones and cakes. You can choose from a variety of teas, and the afternoon tea is a great value for the quality you get. For under £30, you can enjoy a delightful selection of sweet and savory treats. While the tea is served in a teabag, it’s still delicious!
My personal favorites were the pistachio meringue and the coronation chicken cone. And don’t miss the savory scone with its tomato and horseradish chutney – it’s a unique and delicious twist.
One word of caution: be careful not to eat everything! I ended up feeling stuffed for the rest of the day! You might want to consider taking a doggy bag, so you can enjoy those delicious treats later.
Hospitality That Exceeds Expectations
The Grosvenor’s staff is truly exceptional, from the reception desk to the restaurant staff. They are always friendly, helpful, and go above and beyond to ensure you have a pleasant stay. I was impressed by the receptionist who not only explained to an elderly couple how to find their way to Victoria Station, but also helped them carry their luggage!

It’s a fantastic base for exploring the city, with easy access to public transportation and within walking distance of some of London’s most famous landmarks.
