Are you looking for a stylish and comfortable place to stay in London? Look no further than the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City! I recently had the pleasure of spending a few nights at this beautiful hotel, and I was absolutely charmed by its stunning views, cozy suites, and friendly staff.
Let me tell you all about it…
A Warm Welcome and a Breathtaking View
My arrival at the Leonardo Royal Hotel was a delightful experience. I arrived a bit early, but the staff at the reception desk were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They quickly checked me in and provided me with all the information I needed for a comfortable stay. The lobby itself was a spacious and elegant space, perfect for relaxing and enjoying a cup of tea.
My room was a beautiful suite located on the 12th floor, offering breathtaking views of some of London’s most iconic landmarks: the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and the Shard. I could spend hours just gazing at the city below. The suite itself was well-appointed, with a comfortable living room, a cozy bedroom, and a fully equipped kitchenette.
Comfort and Convenience at Every Turn
The suite was a haven of comfort and convenience, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The living room was adorned with two plush sofas, a coffee table, a TV, London-inspired artwork, and a magnificent chandelier. The bedroom featured a king-sized bed, large wardrobes, a minibar, a safe, and numerous power outlets with USB charging ports—a thoughtful touch for the modern traveler.
The suite was also equipped with a flat-screen TV, writing desk, iron and ironing board, complimentary toiletries, a bathtub and shower, hairdryer, bathrobe, slippers, and a generous discount on lunch and dinner. I was even treated to a free newspaper, unlimited Wifi, complimentary mineral water, a coffee and tea maker, and a telephone.
And let’s not forget the handwritten welcome note and sweet treat that awaited me! This personal touch really made me feel special.
A Touch of Luxury, but With Room for Improvement
The bathroom was beautifully designed with white marble tiles and a chic black border. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed some wear and tear. Cracked tiles, poorly filled joints, and damaged enamel in the shower area detracted from the otherwise luxurious feel. It’s a small detail, but it definitely stood out.
Breakfast with a View (and Some Mixed Service)
Breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant, Leo’s, was a feast for the senses! There was a massive buffet offering something for everyone: traditional English breakfast items, continental options like pancakes and omelets, fresh fruit, and an assortment of bread. However, my first breakfast experience was slightly marred by a staff member who seemed a bit disengaged. Fortunately, other colleagues were incredibly attentive and friendly.
A Memorable Dinner with Friendly Service
My dining experience at Leo’s on a Thursday evening was a highlight. Kostas, the amiable staff member, found me a great table and chatted with me, switching between English and German. The fish and chips were exceptional, and the service was top-notch. Kostas deserves a special mention for making the evening memorable.
A Sweet Farewell and a Lasting Impression
On the day of my departure, I received a lovely parting gift—a bottle of red wine. Even though I couldn’t enjoy it because of my travel plans, this gesture left a positive impression and made me feel valued.
A Place I’d Definitely Visit Again
Overall, my stay at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City was a positive experience. While there were a few areas where improvements could be made, like the bathroom and the consistency of staff engagement, the hotel’s stunning views, well-appointed suites, and mostly excellent service made for a memorable stay. The personal touches like the handwritten note and the parting gift were charming and made me feel truly welcome. These small gestures often leave the most significant impact.
I would definitely consider returning to Leonardo Royal in the future, hoping that they will continue to improve their standards of hospitality. See you soon, Leonardo! 😊
