Our adventure began with a splendid picnic, planned for the serene setting of Green Park. However, a touch of summer rain re-routed our plans, leading us to a charming covered courtyard where we enjoyed a delicious feast of jam sandwiches, sausage rolls, potato salad, fruit cake, freshly squeezed orange juice, and more. Joining us were my mother and my children’s older cousin from New York, who contributed to the warm and lively atmosphere. It was a scene that reminded me of those idealized family gatherings I often imagined, filled with laughter, stories, and a shared sense of connection.

We strolled through the picturesque Hyde Park, marveled at the grandeur of Buckingham Palace, and even bravely climbed the lions in Trafalgar Square, our laughter echoing through the bustling streets.
We wandered through the vibrant sights and sounds of Chinatown and Piccadilly, ending our adventure at the renowned Hatchards bookstore, where our children used their vouchers to select new treasures. Romilly, the elder child, chose an Agatha Christie novel and a ghost story book, while Hector, the younger one, opted for “Call of the Wild” and an anime book.
Their verdict? “I loved the little details in the room like the teepee and the cookies we got to decorate, and it was really fun when we got to go around London taking photos,” said Romilly. “It was cool,” added Hector.
