A London Escape: The Londoner Hotel Review

Dive into luxury and experience the ultimate London escape at The Londoner hotel! This stunning hotel, boasting the title of the world’s first super boutique hotel, promises an unforgettable stay. While its grand opening was slightly delayed due to the pandemic, I was fortunate to experience its grandeur in March 2022. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew this was a special place – a sanctuary tucked away from the hustle and bustle of London’s iconic Leicester Square.

A World of Its Own: The Londoner’s Design and Location

Imagine being steps away from the vibrant energy of Leicester Square, yet feeling transported to another world. The Londoner hotel seamlessly blends into its surroundings, yet creates a distinct sense of tranquility within its walls. The hotel’s prime location makes exploring the city’s best offerings a breeze.

Take a short stroll across Leicester Square and immerse yourself in the exotic flavors of Chinatown. Soho’s trendy shops and restaurants are just a hop, skip, and jump away, and Covent Garden’s vibrant atmosphere is within easy reach. For a dose of luxury shopping, Regent Street is a stone’s throw away, while Oxford Street offers a more high-street experience. Plus, with multiple cinemas and theaters, including the Odeon cinema nestled within the hotel itself, entertainment is always on the doorstep.

Think world-class shows, captivating musicals, and endless dining options – all within walking distance. Whether you crave traditional British pubs or international cuisine, Leicester Square has something to tempt your taste buds. Even popular attractions like the Lego store and M&M’s World are within easy reach, making this hotel an ideal base for both seasoned Londoners and first-time visitors.

Luxurious Accommodations: Rooms That Exceed Expectations

The Londoner offers a diverse range of rooms and suites, each meticulously designed to provide a sanctuary of comfort. Choose from a Deluxe King, a Deluxe King City View, or a Junior Suite, all boasting stunning views and exceptional attention to detail. For an even more luxurious experience, the Capital, Signature, or Tower Penthouse Suite might be your perfect match.

The Deluxe King room was a revelation, beautifully designed with a blend of neutral colors, elegant materials, and pops of color. The open-plan bathroom features bold tiling, a colorful sink, a separate walk-in shower, and a Japanese electronic Toto toilet. Every detail is impeccably crafted, from the sparkling cleanliness to the generous amenities, including a mini-bar, a large LCD TV, and a Bluetooth-enabled Roberts radio.

After a minor housekeeping snafu, I was pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a Junior Suite. This spacious retreat offered similar stylish décor with the added benefit of more windows for a panoramic view, as well as an enclosed bathroom with a larger shower and bath area. The suite also included a comfortable reclining sofa, a dining table, and a writing desk, providing a perfect blend of relaxation and functionality.

Culinary Delights: A Journey Through Flavors

At The Londoner, dining is an experience, not just a meal. The hotel boasts an impressive array of restaurants and bars, each offering a unique culinary adventure.

Start your day with a lavish breakfast at Whitcomb’s, where a delightful buffet awaits. Indulge in fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, juices, pastries, and a full hot selection, including an egg/omelette station. Enjoy the attentive service and savor the delicious a la carte options while enjoying a scenic view of the city.

For a fine dining experience, Whitcomb’s transforms into a French/Mediterranean-inspired restaurant in the evening. The hotel recognizes its guests, offering a special aperitif for those enjoying dinner. Looking for pre-dinner drinks? Joshua’s Tavern, with its traditional pub atmosphere, is a perfect choice, especially if you’re a gin enthusiast.

After dinner, ascend to 8 at The Londoner, a Japanese-inspired izakaya lounge with breathtaking views of the London skyline. Enjoy delicious food and drinks in the elegant restaurant or lounge, or step outside to the Shima Garden. This cozy outdoor space, complete with a retractable roof and heaters, is a perfect spot for drinks and conversation.

The Residence, an exclusive space for guests, offers three different bar areas, a restaurant, and a relaxed atmosphere. This secluded retreat, accessible by a stunning curved staircase, offers complimentary tea, coffee, soft drinks, and an assortment of Italian antipasti.

From champagne breakfasts to traditional afternoon tea in The Stage, and healthy bites at Refuel, The Londoner caters to every palate. The hotel’s culinary offerings ensure that you never have to step outside for a memorable meal.

Unwind and Rejuvenate: The Retreat Spa

A sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation, The Retreat is a true highlight of The Londoner experience. This luxurious spa boasts a spacious gym, a state-of-the-art fitness room, treatment rooms, and a tranquil spa area.

Indulge in a rejuvenating treatment, like the unforgettable 90-minute Opium deep-tissue massage. The spa also features beautifully designed changing facilities, reflecting the impeccable attention to detail found throughout the hotel. Refuel, a superfood and drinks clinic, provides healthy options after your treatment.

The Retreat’s spa area also features a spacious swimming pool and hydropool, surrounded by private cabanas. Enjoy the attentive service of Stefani, the Spa and Wellness Manager, who creates a personalized and welcoming atmosphere.

A Londoner Experience: Service Beyond Expectations

The Londoner’s service is exceptional, reflecting the dedication to creating a memorable experience for every guest. From the warm welcome and tour upon arrival to the attentive service in the bars, restaurants, and spa, every detail is taken care of.

While I encountered a minor hiccup with the initial room allocation and a housekeeping issue, the hotel’s swift and efficient response quickly resolved these minor inconveniences. The only other slight drawback was the slow service at The Stage for afternoon tea, which I believe was a one-time occurrence due to being the last serving of the day.

The Londoner is a testament to luxury, comfort, and impeccable service. With its stunning design, prime location, and endless amenities, this hotel offers an unforgettable experience that will leave you wanting more. Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a business trip, The Londoner is the perfect sanctuary for your next London adventure.
