It’s not every day a hotel opens in the heart of London and immediately becomes a top contender in the city’s hotel scene. 45 Park Lane, with its grand opening in September 2011, has certainly made its mark. Awards have been bestowed, notable guests have graced its halls, and accolades have been showered upon it. It’s no exaggeration to say that this hotel is poised to become a London legend.
A Hotel with Style
I’ve been an admirer of 45 Park Lane for some time now, captivated by its Art Deco design and prime location. It’s like a jewel in the crown of London’s hospitality. When the opportunity arose to spend an evening at the hotel, I was delighted. However, my partner had also booked us to attend a charity event in Camden.
A Dilemma in Luxury
Standing in our opulent Curzon Suite, we contemplated the hour we had before our charity commitment. My partner voiced her reservations, “Do we really need to go?” I, on the other hand, was enjoying the luxurious surroundings, “Isn’t this your shindig?” I quipped, savoring my Japanese beer.
It wasn’t her event specifically, but it was a breast cancer charity event. I confess, the thought of leaving this luxurious haven for a charity function did cross our minds. It felt almost… shameful. But then, we realized that these stays are fleeting moments. When was the last time you had a chance to truly immerse yourself in a luxurious suite? I was tempted to order a juicy rib-eye from Wolfgang Puck’s CUT restaurant, settle in for a mindless TV binge, and enjoy a fine bottle of red wine. However, we ultimately decided that we should attend the charity event, after all, it was for a good cause.
A Luxurious Retreat
After our charity event, we returned to our haven on the seventh floor, eager to enjoy the remainder of our evening. It was time to truly unwind. The spacious suite with its king-size bed and luxurious marble details was a true sanctuary.
I took out my Petit Upmann cigar, carefully lighting it to ensure an even burn. I stepped out onto the terrace, gazing out at the park. It’s amazing how a relatively new hotel can so quickly establish itself among London’s most iconic establishments. Park Lane is home to some of the city’s most esteemed hotels. 45 Park Lane’s neighbor, The Dorchester, is a testament to that. It’s no wonder that 45 Park Lane has thrived in such illustrious company.
Technology at Your Fingertips
As I pondered this, I heard my partner’s voice, “How do you close the blinds, darling?”
“Touch screen,” I replied, a little amused. To my surprise, she managed to close them, showcasing her surprisingly tech-savvy side. Lights, phone, air conditioning, curtains – everything was controlled by the touch screen. I’ve seen this implemented in other hotels, but here it was seamless and intuitive, even for those less familiar with technology.
A Design Lover’s Paradise
After a delicious black angus burger in the dining room and a leisurely cigar, I decided to truly appreciate the luxurious bedroom. Black wood, rich furnishings, leather detailing, and Art Deco furniture adorned every corner. I took several pictures, intending to share them with my interior decorator friend. A large print of Audrey Hepburn hung above the bed, lending a touch of 1920s Hollywood glamour to the room. And at 850 square feet, the room was spacious yet felt incredibly cozy.
Culinary Delights
The next morning, after a restful sleep and a leisurely read in a comfortable armchair, we headed down for breakfast. I won’t say too much about Wolfgang Puck’s CUT, as we plan to do a full review in the future. Suffice it to say, it’s the epitome of power dining. The service was impeccable, with a seemingly endless staff, one for each napkin. I recommend the salt beef hash cake with poached organic eggs, crispy leeks, and sauce Bérnaise. It’s a truly divine dish.
A Place to Remember
45 Park Lane is truly a special place. It’s one of the few hotels I’d wholeheartedly recommend to friends. I long to return and book their screening room for a movie night with friends, enjoying expertly crafted cocktails from the bar.
This hotel deserves every accolade it receives. It’s a shining example of luxury and sophistication. 45 Park Lane is truly a gem in the heart of London.
