A London Getaway at the Leonardo Royal Hotel: A Review

Welcome to my review of the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City! Get ready to explore this beautiful hotel and see if it’s the right fit for you! I stayed there from December 19th to the 22nd, and I’ve got all the details about my experience.

An Elegant Arrival and a Suite with a View

I arrived at the hotel an hour before the standard check-in time, and the reception staff greeted me warmly. I immediately loved the spacious lobby, with its comfortable seating and stylish design. The check-in process was efficient, and I was quickly on my way to my suite.

My home for the next few days was Room 1207, a suite on the 12th floor. It was a real treat! The suite had a compact but functional kitchenette, leading to a living room with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows. From my comfy sofa, I enjoyed breathtaking views of the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, and the Shard. The living room was beautifully decorated with London-inspired artwork and a dazzling chandelier.

The bedroom was just as impressive, with a huge king-sized bed (2m x 2m), offering the same incredible views. It was a dream to wake up to that view every morning! The room was packed with amenities, including two wardrobes, a mini-bar, a safe, and plenty of power outlets with USB ports—a real plus for a modern traveler like me.

Amenities Galore and Thoughtful Touches

My suite was brimming with comforts and conveniences. There was a **flat-screen TV, a desk for working or writing, an iron and ironing board, complimentary toiletries, a choice of a bathtub or shower, a hairdryer, a bathrobe, slippers, and a generous 10% discount on lunch and dinner.

I was also thrilled to discover extra perks like a free newspaper, unlimited Wi-Fi, complimentary mineral water, a coffee and tea maker, and a telephone. But the best surprise was a handwritten welcome note and a sweet treat. It was a lovely touch that made me feel truly welcomed.

Bathroom Bliss with a Few Flaws

The spacious bathroom, adorned with white marble tiles and a chic black border, was initially impressive, with its elegant design and floor heating. However, I did notice some wear and tear, including cracked tiles, poorly filled joints, and damaged enamel in the shower area. While these imperfections were a bit disappointing, the overall bathroom was still lovely and functional.

Delicious Breakfast and Friendly Staff

Breakfast at Leo’s, the hotel restaurant, was a real feast. With a buffet featuring everything from classic English breakfast dishes to continental options like pancakes, omelets, fresh fruits, and a variety of breads, there was something for everyone.

However, my first breakfast experience was a bit marred by a staff member who seemed uninterested. Luckily, other staff members were incredibly attentive and helpful, making up for the initial disappointment.

Most of the staff at the Leonardo Royal were friendly and eager to help. But there were a few instances where the level of engagement could have been more consistent, especially in the lobby. It’s important for a hotel, especially one at this level, to maintain a consistently high standard of service for all guests.

An Evening to Remember at Leo’s Restaurant

My dining experience at Leo’s on a Thursday evening was a highlight of my stay. Kostas, the friendly staff member, found me a fantastic table and engaged in lively conversations, switching between English and German. The fish and chips I ordered were absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent. Kostas deserves a big thank you for making the evening so memorable!

A Sweet Farewell and a Promise to Return

On the day of my checkout, I received a lovely parting gift: a bottle of red wine! Even though I couldn’t enjoy it right away due to my travel plans, it was a heartwarming gesture that left a lasting positive impression.

Despite a few minor issues, my stay at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City was truly enjoyable. ** The stunning views, well-appointed suites, and mostly excellent service made it a memorable experience. While there are areas where improvements could be made, such as the upkeep of the bathrooms and the consistency of staff engagement, the hotel’s personal touches, like the handwritten note and the parting gift, added a unique charm to my stay.**

As I reflect on my stay, I feel a sense of satisfaction and will definitely consider returning to the Leonardo Royal Hotel in the future. I’m hoping they’ll continue to uphold and improve their high standards of hospitality. See you soon, Leonardo! 😉
