A Parisian Icon Reimagined: Cartier’s 13 Paix

Cartier’s flagship store on Rue de la Paix has been a symbol of Parisian style and luxury for nearly 125 years. Since Louis Cartier moved the family business to this prestigious address in 1899, it has been the heart of the brand’s global success. The store has witnessed the rise of iconic figures like Jeanne Toussaint, who revolutionized Cartier’s image in the 1920s, solidifying its place in popular culture.

A Legacy Reimagined

In a testament to its commitment to its heritage, Cartier embarked on a two-year renovation of the iconic building. The result is 13 Paix, a breathtaking reimagining of the original space. This ambitious project involved three teams of architects, transforming the building into a multi-level experience showcasing Cartier’s rich history and innovative spirit.

An Architectural Symphony

Spanning six floors, 13 Paix features 10 stunning salons, each with a distinct character. The ground floor welcomes visitors with two historic salons, meticulously restored to showcase Cartier’s legacy. Here, you can discover vintage pieces, including Jean Cocteau’s academician sword and a rare book collection housed in the Louis Cartier Salon, a tribute to the founder’s vision.

The first two floors are dedicated to retail, offering a curated selection of Cartier’s watches, jewelry, leather goods, and accessories. The second floor celebrates the magic of engagements and weddings, with a delicate blend of fine materials, pastel tones, and gentle lighting.

A Journey Through Time and Style

As you ascend the third floor, you are immersed in the world of High Jewelry. This exclusive space, accessible via a private elevator, features salons named Art Deco, Indes, and Inspiration. These intimate spaces are designed to evoke emotion, showcasing the Maison’s most extraordinary creations.

The fourth floor is a haven for craftsmanship, housing jewellery workshops and the Maison’s archives. Visitors can witness the artistry of Cartier’s master artisans firsthand, while children can engage in creative activities at the Customisation Bar.

A Parisian Dream Residence

The pinnacle of 13 Paix is the Residence, a private space on the top floor, envisioned as a Parisian apartment. Decorated by Laura Gonzalez, this luxurious haven features a dining room, a spacious kitchen, and a winter garden, all brimming with artistic details.

Gonzalez’s vision for the Residence is a symphony of contrasts, blending luxurious materials, vibrant colours, and intricate details. The space is a testament to Cartier’s enduring legacy, infused with nods to its signature motifs, such as the menagerie and plant motifs.

A Symphony of Design and Innovation

The entire renovation project prioritizes environmental sustainability, achieving the highest BREEAM environmental certification. The building boasts several eco-friendly features, including a vertical garden designed by Cartier perfume designer Mathilde Laurent, adding a touch of verdant beauty to the façade.

13 Paix is a testament to Cartier’s commitment to innovation and heritage, showcasing a seamless fusion of classic Parisian elegance and contemporary design. This iconic building remains a symbol of style and luxury, offering a unique experience that celebrates the Maison’s rich history and visionary future.
