London in December is always enchanting, especially after a tough year. Following a recent surgery, I craved some city sparkle and decided to treat myself to a London getaway, eager to immerse myself in the dazzling Christmas lights. (Find the post HERE). But I wanted more than just lights; I desired a truly memorable experience. That’s when I discovered the Treehouse Hotel, a brand-new gem that had just opened its doors in November 2019. This hotel, nestled in the heart of London’s bustling shopping district, promised a unique and unforgettable stay.
A Prime Location for Explorers
The Treehouse Hotel is perfectly positioned north of the River Thames, close to London’s renowned shopping district, offering easy access to both Regent Street and Oxford Street. This location also puts you within walking distance of iconic attractions like the British Museum, the Sherlock Holmes Museum, and the expansive green spaces of Regent’s Park and Hyde Park. It’s an ideal choice for a second or even third visit to London, allowing you to explore some of the city’s less-frequented yet equally fascinating sights.
Beyond the Tourist Trail
While the hotel is a convenient 30-minute walk from the main tourist area, including Buckingham Palace, reaching attractions like the Tower of London requires a journey of over an hour. If you’re a first-time visitor seeking the most iconic sights, hotels like the Sea Containers (post coming soon) might be a better fit. But for those who seek a bit of local charm and exploration, the Treehouse Hotel offers a delightful alternative.
An Extraordinary Stay: Sustainability and Style
The accommodation at the Treehouse Hotel is truly extraordinary. I indulged in a Treehouse Suite with breathtaking views of the London skyline. But the real highlight was the enormous soaking bathtub overlooking the city through a massive window – pure bliss!
Beyond the stunning bath, the rooms themselves are a testament to sustainability. The hotel’s commitment to eco-friendly practices is evident in every detail. You won’t find a single piece of plastic in sight, and a water fountain on each floor encourages guests to refill their provided glass bottles. The Central American treehouse theme is seamlessly woven throughout the design, using locally sourced products wherever possible.
From Coffee and Books to Cocktails and Fitness
The Treehouse Hotel caters to every culinary desire with its four diverse dining options. At the hotel entrance, Backyard provides a welcoming space for coffee, breakfast, and a selection of teas, fruit, croissants, yogurt, and other delicious treats. The book swap initiative adds a personal touch, inviting guests to exchange their beloved books for a new reading adventure. You’ll even find a pre-loved book waiting for you in your room upon check-in!
For a taste of Mexican cuisine, Madera, the main restaurant, serves delicious meals, including a must-try Sunday brunch. Pizza lovers can head to Pizzeria Mozza, while The Nest, the rooftop bar, offers a delightful selection of high-end cocktails and drinks. I was particularly impressed by the quality of all the food and drinks I enjoyed during my stay.
The hotel’s commitment to wellbeing extends beyond its culinary offerings. Treehouse has partnered with FRAME, a fitness company that offers personal training sessions in your room, on The Nest terrace, or even in nearby Regent’s Park. While I didn’t partake in this unique service, it’s a testament to the hotel’s dedication to providing a well-rounded experience.
A Unique and Sustainable Escape in the Heart of London
The Treehouse Hotel offers a truly unique and sustainable experience in the heart of London. I found it to be a delightful escape, particularly appreciating its commitment to eco-conscious practices, a rarity in the hotel industry. It was the perfect pick-me-up treat I needed to end the year on a positive note after a challenging period. If you’re looking for a charming and eco-friendly hotel with a unique character, the Treehouse Hotel is a must-consider for your next London adventure.
So, what are you waiting for? Book your stay at the Treehouse Hotel and experience the magic of London in a sustainable and stylish haven. Happy travels!
