My Delta flight, from start to finish, was a dream. Smooth check-in, pleasant flight, and a seamless arrival. However, my joyride quickly turned sour when I needed a wheelchair to get from the plane to baggage claim.
The wheelchair assistant demanded payment, completely contradicting my understanding that this service was free. I usually tip generously for such assistance, but I refused to pay when confronted with this unexpected demand. My daughter, who had come to pick me up, was also shocked and paid the assistant under the impression that Delta had changed their policy. This encounter left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I felt completely misled.
First Class Follies: Lost Luggage and a Stressful Flight
We decided to splurge on a first-class ticket for this flight, hoping for a luxurious experience. The seats were spacious and comfortable, but the flight crew arrived late, causing a significant delay. This disrupted many passengers who were connecting to other flights, adding to the overall stress of the situation. To add insult to injury, one of our four checked bags went missing, leaving us frustrated and scrambling to find it.
Delta’s online assistance was underwhelming, and despite the baggage claim staff’s sympathy, we had to wait nearly two hours before they finally located our bag. The whole experience was a major inconvenience, and it made me seriously reconsider splurging on first class in the future.
Norse Atlantic: A Decent Journey, But Could Be Better
This time, we flew premium on the way to London but opted for economy class on the return flight. While the crew remained professional and courteous, they lacked the warmth and personalized attention we experienced on the premium flight. They seemed distant and uninvolved, providing only the bare minimum service expected in economy.
The aircraft itself was comfortable, offering the expected tight pitch in economy class. Overall, I would still recommend Norse Atlantic, but I hope they can improve their service consistency across different classes.
BA: From Boarding Pass Chaos to Rude Staff
My journey with British Airways was a complete disaster before even boarding the flight. A system crash caused a major disruption, leading to the denial of our boarding passes for the connecting flight. Despite arriving with ample time for the connection, we were incorrectly flagged as being late by a shift change in the staff.
The new staff member even accused us of lying, further fueling the frustration and inconvenience. After waiting for three hours, we were forced to book a train home, adding an extra four hours to our journey. The experience was a complete nightmare, and I would definitely avoid flying with BA in the future.
BA Business Class: A Disappointing Experience
My flight in BA’s business class was a far cry from the luxurious experience I expected. The lounge at the departure airport was crowded and uninspiring, a stark contrast to the plush lounges I am used to with United Airlines. The boarding process was chaotic and disorganized, and the business suites, while nice, lacked the comfort needed for a comfortable sleep.
While the crew was friendly, the service was lackluster and impersonal. The food service was minimal and lacked the personalized attention I’m used to. The arrival at London Heathrow was another chaotic mess, with passengers crammed onto a bus for the journey back to the terminal. The entire experience felt mediocre, and I felt like BA had sold me a premium experience but delivered a cheap, economy class service. I was deeply disappointed with the overall experience.
