Who doesn’t love a bit of festive cheer, especially after a challenging time? I felt the need for some London magic last December after recovering from surgery. So, I decided to treat myself to a trip to the city, eager to soak up the dazzling Christmas lights (find the post HERE). But why stop there? I wanted to make it a truly memorable experience, so I set out to find a charming hotel near the heart of London’s bustling shopping scene. My search led me to the Treehouse Hotel, a gem that had just opened its doors in November 2019.
A Treehouse in the City: Location, Location, Location
The Treehouse Hotel sits north of the River Thames, nestled close to London’s renowned shopping district, offering easy access to Regent Street and <a href="https://londongreens.org/a-shopaholics-paradise-exploring-oxford-street-london/" title="A Shopaholic’s Paradise: Exploring <a href="https://londongreens.org/a-shopaholics-paradise-exploring-oxford-street-london/" title="A Shopaholic’s Paradise: Exploring Oxford Street, London”>Oxford Street, London”>Oxford Street. It’s also within walking distance of iconic attractions like the British Museum, the <a href="https://londongreens.org/a-world-of-mystery-awaits-exploring-the-sherlock-holmes-museum-in-london/" title="A World of Mystery Awaits: Exploring the <a href="https://londongreens.org/a-world-of-mystery-awaits-exploring-the-sherlock-holmes-museum-in-london/" title="A World of Mystery Awaits: Exploring the Sherlock Holmes Museum in London”>Sherlock Holmes Museum in London”>Sherlock Holmes Museum, and the sprawling green spaces of Regent’s Park and Hyde Park. This prime location makes it an ideal choice for a second (or even third) visit to London, allowing you to explore some of the city’s famous yet less frequented sites.
While the hotel is a convenient 30-minute walk to the main tourist area, including Buckingham Palace, reaching attractions like the <a href="https://londongreens.org/a-tower-of-time-the-history-of-the-tower-of-london-part-1/" title="A Tower of Time: The History of the <a href="https://londongreens.org/a-tower-of-time-the-history-of-the-tower-of-london-part-1/" title="A Tower of Time: The History of the Tower of London (Part 1)”>Tower of London (Part 1)”>Tower of London requires a journey of over an hour. For first-time visitors seeking the most iconic sights, hotels like the Sea Containers (post coming soon) may be a better option. But for those who crave a bit of local charm and exploration, the Treehouse Hotel provides a delightful alternative.
A Sustainable Sanctuary with Breathtaking Views
The accommodation at the Treehouse Hotel is nothing short of extraordinary. I indulged in a Treehouse Suite, which offered breathtaking views of the London skyline. But the real highlight was the enormous soaking bathtub overlooking the city through a massive window – pure bliss!
Beyond the bath, the rooms themselves are a testament to sustainability. The hotel’s commitment to <a href="https://londongreens.org/a-green-city-guide-exploring-london-sustainably/" title="A Green City Guide: Exploring London Sustainably”>eco-friendly practices is evident in every detail. There’s no plastic in sight, and a water fountain on each floor encourages guests to refill their provided glass bottles. The <a href="https://londongreens.org/a-touch-of-london-magic-the-treehouse-hotel/" title="A Touch of London Magic: The Treehouse Hotel”>Central American treehouse theme is seamlessly woven throughout the design, with locally sourced products used wherever possible.
From Coffee and Books to Cocktails and Fitness
The Treehouse Hotel caters to every culinary whim with its four diverse dining options. At the hotel entrance, Backyard provides a welcoming spot for coffee, breakfast, and a selection of teas, fruit, croissants, yogurt, and other delightful treats. The book swap initiative adds a personal touch, inviting guests to exchange their pre-loved books for a new reading adventure. You’ll even find a pre-loved book waiting for you in your room upon check-in!
For a taste of Mexican cuisine, Madera, the main restaurant, serves delicious meals, including a brunch that’s a must-try on Sundays. Pizza lovers can head to Pizzeria Mozza, while The Nest, the rooftop bar, offers a delightful selection of high-end cocktails and drinks. I was particularly impressed by the quality of all the food and drinks I enjoyed during my stay.
The hotel’s commitment to wellbeing goes beyond its culinary offerings. Treehouse has partnered with FRAME, a fitness company that offers personal training sessions in your room, on The Nest terrace, or even in nearby Regent’s Park. While I didn’t partake in this unique service, it’s a testament to the hotel’s dedication to providing a well-rounded experience.
A Unique and Sustainable Escape in the Heart of London
The Treehouse Hotel offers a truly unique and sustainable experience in the heart of London. I found it to be a delightful escape, particularly appreciating its commitment to eco-conscious practices, a rarity in the hotel industry. It was the perfect pick-me-up treat I needed to end the year on a positive note after a challenging period. If you’re looking for a charming and eco-friendly hotel with a unique character, the Treehouse Hotel is a must-consider for your next London adventure.
