Welcome to Delta: Your Gateway to the World!

Ready to take flight? Delta Air Lines offers a range of travel options to fit your needs and budget. We want you to have a smooth and enjoyable journey, so we’ve put together some essential information about our fares, services, and policies.

Understanding Delta Fares

Our advertised fares reflect real-time pricing for specific routes available on delta.com. Keep in mind that fares are subject to availability and can change at any time before you finalize your booking.

SkyMiles Program: Earn Rewards & Enjoy Perks

As a SkyMiles member, you can earn miles on most Delta flights, accumulating rewards for future travel. However, please note that tickets booked under Basic Economy are not eligible to earn miles or contribute towards Medallion Status.

To learn more about the SkyMiles program, its rules, offers, mile accrual, redemption options, and travel benefits, be sure to review our comprehensive Membership Guide & Program Rules.

Booking Your Flight: Know the Details

Delta offers a variety of fare types, each with its own set of rules and features. Basic Economy fares, while budget-friendly, have specific limitations. These fares are non-refundable and non-changeable, meaning you won’t be able to receive a refund or modify your flight once booked.

Additionally, Basic Economy tickets do not include a seat assignment until check-in and are not eligible for upgrades. For a complete overview of Basic Economy restrictions, visit our dedicated Basic Economy rules page.

Seat Comfort and Onboard Amenities

We strive to provide a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience. However, remember that seat configurations and amenities may vary depending on the aircraft type. To explore our seat products and discover more about the Onboard Experience, visit our dedicated page.

Checked Baggage: Know the Fees

Delta charges fees for checked baggage, with the amount varying based on your destination.

For domestic flights within the United States, including Puerto Rico, the first checked bag costs $35 USD, while the second checked bag incurs a $45 USD fee.

International travel to countries like Canada, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Central America comes with similar fees for the first and second checked bags.

However, fees for destinations in the Bahamas, Mexico, El Salvador, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay are subject to variations depending on the fare type and destination.

For travel between the United States and Europe, a first checked bag on a Basic Economy fare costs $75 USD or 70 EUR, with a second checked bag incurring a $100 USD or 85 EUR fee.

Flights to and from Africa (excluding Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia), the Middle East, and India have different baggage fees.

Travel from the United States to Algeria, Morocco, or Tunisia comes with a $75 USD fee for the first checked bag on a Basic Economy fare, while travel from these countries to the United States is free for the first bag.

Flights between the United States and Israel incur a $60 USD fee for the first checked bag on a Basic Economy fare.

Finally, travel to Asia (excluding Australia, New Zealand, China, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea) offers a complimentary first checked bag for Basic Economy fares.

Travel to Australia, New Zealand, China, Fiji, or Papua New Guinea also comes with a complimentary first checked bag.

Flights between the United States and French Polynesia have specific fees for checked bags on Basic Economy fares.

Please note that all baggage allowances are subject to size and weight limits. You can find further details on these limits by contacting a Delta agent or visiting our Excess Baggage page.

SkyMiles Award Travel: Redeem Your Miles for Exciting Adventures

SkyMiles Award Travel allows you to redeem your hard-earned miles for exciting trips.

Keep in mind that taxes, fees, and carrier-imposed charges are the responsibility of the passenger and must be paid at the time of booking.

While Award Seats are limited, we strive to offer them on a variety of flights and destinations.

Main Cabin and above Award Travel tickets enjoy the convenience of change or cancellation without a redeposit or change fee for travel originating from the United States and Canada. For comprehensive information about Award Travel policies, visit our Travel With Miles page.

Cancellations, Refunds, and Changes: Know Your Options

Basic Economy tickets and tickets issued for travel originating outside of the United States and Canada are subject to specific charges and fees for changes and cancellations. To learn more about these fees, visit our Change or Cancel Overview page.
