Get ready for an exciting journey into the Subterranean Complex, the second cave you’ll encounter in the Valley of Repose. This massive dungeon is packed with challenges, treasures, and a whole lot of Pikmin action!
Navigating the Subterranean Complex: A Step-by-Step Guide
Before you can dive into the depths of this cave, you’ll need to clear some obstacles. First, make sure those pesky Dwarf Red Bulborbs and Red Bulborbs are dealt with, so they don’t munch on your precious Pikmin. You’ll also need to create a bridge using the Decorated Cannon Beetles as your tools, then destroy those annoying beetles themselves using their own weapons.
Next, use your Blues or Purples to take care of any lingering Watery Blowhogs, then unleash your Whites to tear down the gate and deal with the poison pipes. Now, you’re ready to explore the Subterranean Complex!
A Rusty, Mechanical Wonderland: Beware the Dangers!
The Subterranean Complex starts off as a chilly, snow-covered cave, just like the Emergence Cave, but as you venture deeper, it transforms into a rusty, mechanical area with bottomless pits, resembling Rusty Gulch. The atmosphere here is intense, and you’ll need to be extra careful.
Many enemies in this cave have projectile and explosive attacks, so be cautious when sending your Pikmin into battle. Explosions are deadly, and a single blast can wipe out your whole squad!
A Treasure Trove: 1480 (NTSC)/1310 (PAL) Worth of Riches Await!
The Subterranean Complex is a true treasure hunter’s dream! There’s a whopping 1480 (NTSC)/1310 (PAL) worth of loot to be found here, so bring your Pikmin and get ready to dig for riches!
The Man-at-Legs: Prepare for the Ultimate Boss Battle!
Your ultimate adversary in the Subterranean Complex is the Man-at-Legs, a powerful Arachnorb species equipped with a deadly laser-guided machine gun. This boss is no pushover, so be prepared for a tough battle!
Sublevel by Sublevel: Unraveling the Secrets of the Subterranean Complex
The Subterranean Complex has multiple sublevels, each with its own unique challenges and rewards. Let’s explore each one:
Sublevel 1: A Snowy Start
This sublevel, much like the Frontier Cavern, is a snowy cave. Here, your main tasks are to clear out any pesky Bumbling Snitchbugs and then grab two treasures: the Nouveau Table and the Exhausted Superstick. Don’t forget to use your Purple Pikmin to tackle the Snow Bulborbs and Hairy Bulborbs!
Sublevel 2: Bomb Rocks and Beyond
The snow has disappeared, and the terrain is treacherous. Be extra careful not to lose your Pikmin over the edge! Your primary goal here is to detonate the Bomb Rocks, then use both spray types to take down the Careening Dirigibugs and Swooping Snitchbugs. Don’t forget to collect the Spirit Flogger and Network Mainbrain!
Sublevel 3: Armored Cannon Beetle Larvae and Fire Geysers
This sublevel is home to Armored Cannon Beetle Larvae and fire geysers. Be careful not to let the beetles fling your Pikmin into the void! Once the threats are cleared, you can use the Ivory Candypop Bud to create some White Pikmin if you want. Don’t forget to grab the Superstrong Stabilizer, Omega Flywheel, and Coiled Launcher!
Sublevel 4: A Rest Stop
This is a typical Rest Level. The only noteworthy items here are eggs, Candypop Buds, and a geyser you can use to return to the surface. There are also three Ivory Candypops you can use to create more White Pikmin if you’re running low.
Sublevel 5: Bomb Rocks and Volatile Dweevils
Here, you’ll need to dispose of Bomb Rocks and Volatile Dweevils that fall from the ceiling. Use White Pikmin to collect the Mystical Disc and Adamantine Girdle. Remember, more Volatile Dweevils will appear as you move along!
Sublevel 6: A Battleground of Careening Dirigibugs, Dweevils, and Anode Beetles
This sublevel is a chaotic battleground, with Careening Dirigibugs, Dweevils, and Anode Beetles all fighting for dominance. The best strategy is to pick off enemies that are away from the main groups. You can also trick the Dweevils into walking off the edge by chasing them, and use cleverly lured Dirigibugs to drop bombs on the Anode Beetles. Don’t forget to collect the Repair Juggernaut, Vacuum Processor, and Space Wave Receiver!
Sublevel 7: Gatling Groinks and Treasure-Dropping Dweevils
This sublevel is home to the dangerous Gatling Groinks, along with some pesky Dweevils that drop treasures. To defeat the Gatling Groinks, try using the same tactic you used on the Ranging Bloyster. Lure them into a corner and attack them from behind. You can also use Bomb Rocks to damage them. Be careful! The Gatling Groinks can regenerate their health if you don’t take them back to your ship! Don’t forget to collect the Indomitable CPU, Furious Adhesive, and Thirst Activator!
Sublevel 8: Another Rest Level
This is another Rest Level, with two Queen Candypop Bud that can help replenish your Pikmin army. There are also three Violet Candypop Bud you can use to create more Purple Pikmin. You can also use the geyser here to return to the surface.
Sublevel 9: The Man-at-Legs Awaits!
This sublevel is where you’ll face the final challenge: the Man-at-Legs. This boss is a fearsome foe, but you can defeat it by using your Purple Pikmin and a bit of strategy. First, hit it with Purple Pikmin while it’s still dormant. Then, run behind a barrier and wait for it to shoot. Its shots are low and can’t go through metal walls, so you can use them to your advantage. Keep running and dodging until you’ve defeated it!
Unleash Your Purple and White Pikmin: A Breeding Ground for Powerful Allies
The Subterranean Complex is a great place to breed Purple Pikmin and White Pikmin. Bring along at least 22 of each other color of Pikmin, and then use the Ivory Candypop Bud and Violet Candypop Bud to create more!
An Epic Adventure Awaits: Conquer the Subterranean Complex!
The Subterranean Complex is an adventure you won’t forget. It’s full of exciting challenges, powerful enemies, and valuable treasures. Use your Pikmin wisely, stay alert, and you’ll be sure to emerge victorious!
