If you’re searching for a hotel that effortlessly connects you to London Heathrow Airport, look no further than the Sofitel London Heathrow. Nestled directly within Terminal 5, this hotel is a haven for travelers seeking a comfortable and convenient stay before their flight.
Previous reviews have highlighted the luxurious experience of the Club Lounge, but for this stay, we opted for a Classic Twin Room, ideal for a quick overnight trip. This proved to be a smart decision for our late arrival and early departure. But here’s a secret: you can unlock the benefits of a luxurious upgrade through the Sofitel STEP Program!
Elevate Your Stay with the Sofitel STEP Program
The Sofitel STEP Program transforms your standard hotel stay into an exclusive experience. As a TravelSort client, you gain access to:
- Guaranteed Room Upgrades: Step up from a Classic to a Superior Room or from a Superior to a Luxury Room, at the time of booking.
- Club Lounge Access: Enjoy the perks of a Luxury Room, including access to the exclusive Club Lounge.
- Suite Upgrade Opportunity: Upon arrival, you may be granted a complimentary upgrade to a Suite, subject to availability.
- Free High-Speed Internet: Stay connected throughout your stay, regardless of your room type.
- Priority Waitlist Placement: Enjoy a smooth and efficient check-in experience.
Arriving at Your Airport Haven
The Sofitel London Heathrow is easily accessible from London via the Piccadilly line. Be sure to choose a train that stops at Terminal 5, which will also serve Terminals 1, 2, and 3. A short escalator ride and a follow-the-signs journey will lead you to an elevator that transports you to the hotel.
Step out of the elevator and follow the corridor, passing a car rental desk, until you reach another elevator (as pictured above). A quick descent and you’ll find yourself in the welcoming lobby of the Sofitel London Heathrow. For those with light luggage, an escalator offers an alternative route.
A Welcoming Check-in and Comfortable Accommodations
While our check-in could have been a little faster, the friendly staff went above and beyond by gifting my son with an activity set. This thoughtful gesture came in handy on our flight the next day, keeping him entertained during the journey.
As a travel professional, I stayed in the Classic Twin room, a cozy space perfect for a short stay. However, most clients I book at the hotel choose a Superior Room to guarantee an upgrade to a Luxury Room, with its coveted Club Lounge access.
Classic Rooms offer either a queen bed or twin beds and measure 277 square feet, providing a comfortable space for a restful night’s sleep. Superior Rooms are slightly larger at 300 square feet, while Luxury Rooms boast a spacious 340 square feet. Although the flat-screen TV in our room wasn’t centered on the wall, it provided entertainment nonetheless. A functional work desk and a small round table with a chair added to the practicality of the room. One of my favorite aspects of Sofitel is the plush and comfortable bed; in fact, Sofitel partners with Air France to provide the same high-quality bedding found in their First Class cabins.
Our room, like most at the hotel, faced internal hotel space, offering no view but an undeniable quiet. This peaceful atmosphere is ideal for travelers seeking a restful night’s sleep before their flight. The bathroom, while compact, boasted a separate bathtub and glass-enclosed shower. While not a rain shower like the Luxury Room, the regular shower head provided a refreshing experience. The single sink vanity, round instead of square, offered ample space for toiletries. The bathroom amenities were identical to those found in the Luxury Room: Espa Bergamot, Jasmine, and Cedarwood bath products, a luxurious touch. A tea kettle and Twinings tea were also provided, though I opted for my preferred Mighty Leaf tea, utilizing the immaculate kettle.
A Note on Amenities and Value
As previously mentioned, the Spa Vitality Pool, sauna, and other spa facilities are complimentary only for those receiving spa treatments. A GBP 25 fee applies for those not partaking in spa services.
While some airport hotels can be lackluster, the Sofitel London Heathrow stands out as a superior option. Though the hotel commands a premium price, the quality of the experience justifies the cost. The convenience of direct access to Terminal 5, eliminating airport shuttle stress and allowing for a few extra minutes of sleep, adds significant value to the stay.
